Dr Chinnapat Panwisawas' research has been concentrated on advanced process science and engineering of laser fusion welding, investment casting and powder-bed fusion additive manufacturing particularly for establishing a multi-scale multi-physics approach to understand the process-structure-property-performance relationship of advanced metallic materials for aerospace energy and biomedical applications.

Why is vaporization-induced composition change important during additive manufacturing?
During the Laser Powder Bed Fusion , volatile alloying elements can selectively vaporize from the molten pool, leading to composition change of the final part compared to the original feedstock. Loss of alloying elements impact the microstructure, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties.
