Dewi Damayanti Abdul Karim is a lecturer and researcher at the Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA), Indonesia. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Universitas Indonesia Timur, where her undergraduate research focused on the spectrophotometric determination of caffeine content. She subsequently obtained a Master's degree in Pharmacology from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), with a thesis specializing in teratological studies using plant extract interventions in female rat models.

Her research interests encompass herbal medicine, toxicology, teratology, toxicogenomics, topical and wound-healing therapeutics, and in vivo experimental studies. She has authored and co-authored numerous scientific articles, book chapters, textbooks, and reference books in the fields of pharmacology and toxicology. In addition, she actively contributes to the dissemination of scientific knowledge through popular science publications related to her areas of expertise.

She has demonstrated a strong commitment to innovation and intellectual property development through active engagement in copyright and patent registration activities, several of which have received competitive funding support. Beyond her contributions to education, research, and community service, she plays a significant role in quality assurance at her institution, serving as an accreditation mentor and reviewer for academic programs across the university.

In 2025, she was awarded the professional qualification of Certified International Internal Quality Assurance Auditor (CIIQA) and became an active member of the Indonesian Association for Laboratory Animal Science (IALAS).

In 2026, she secured competitive funding for research, community service projects, and patent development initiatives. Her scholarly work is guided by a strong commitment to research integrity and the ethical use of laboratory animals in scientific investigations.
