About Dr. Abdela Hilo
I am a researcher in public health and public administration with expertise in health systems, policy evaluation, and mixed methods analysis. I hold a PhD in Public Administration, a Master of Public Administration, a Master of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. My research focuses on the effects of environmental shocks, particularly drought, on health outcomes and access to care in low resource settings. I also study health workforce dynamics, with a particular interest in the challenges of recruiting and retaining professionals in rural and underserved areas. More broadly, my research interests include maternal and child health, health equity, and the design of policies that strengthen health systems. Drawing on both quantitative and qualitative approaches, as well as fieldwork experience in Africa, my work aims to inform practical and context specific strategies for improving population health.
