About Gustavo Passos

Neurosurgeon, researcher and professor with more than 15 years of experience, currently serving as Research Associate at the CANES Microsurgical Laboratory, University of Miami, FL, USA. Graduated in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of Marilia, SP, Brazil in 2003. Residency in Neurosurgery at Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas, Brazil, completed in 2008. Specialized in Skull Base and Epilepsy Surgery, with a Master’s in Internal Medicine focused on surgical treatment for epilepsy completed in 2021. Since 2012, has served as Teaching Preceptor for Neurosurgery Residency Programs and Assistant Professor and Co-director of the Skull Base Fellowship Program. Served as Head of the Neurosurgery Residency Program at Mackenzie University Hospital, Curitiba, Brazil, 2020–2024. Published multiple peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and supervised research projects. Experience in anatomical hands-on courses organization and lab procedures. Nominated Chair of the Research Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) 2025–2027. Invited as a full member of Sigma Xi (ΣΞ), The Scientific Research Honor Society, in January 2026. Actively engaged in research, medical education & training and advanced neurosurgical techniques.
