About Karen Ruebens

I am a Palaeolithic archaeologist, combining extensive knowledge of stone tool analyses, with practical lab experience in Zooarchaeology by Mass Spectrometry (ZooMS). In 2023 I was awarded an ERC starting grant to investigate the coexistence of Neanderthals and early Homo sapiens in central and southeast Europe by applying state-of-the-art methods from archaeological science, proteomics and genetics to fragmented bone.
