About Krister Smith
I am a vertebrate palaeobiologist. I head the Department of Messel Research at the Senckenberg Research Institute and lecture in the Faculty of Biosciences at the Goethe University Frankfurt. My work is concerned with fossil lower vertebrate and everything we can infer using them. My department is focused on the excavation and interpretation of the Eocene Messel Pit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved fossil ecosystems in Earth History.
