About Manoj Oak

I am working as Scientist E and heading the Genetics and Plant Breeding group and currently operating projects funded by DBT and ICAR, involving the use of protein profiling and biochemical methods to predict and estimate the end-use quality of wheat (bread, macaroni and khapli) and soybean. Research also involves mapping, tagging, and using DNA-based markers for crop improvement. These involve using various DNA-based markers in marker-assisted selection breeding, DNA profiling, and identification of markers linked to important agronomic, disease resistance, and end-use quality traits applied to crops like wheat and soybean. We employ NIR and rheological methods to estimate the end-use quality of grains. Almost 24 years of experience in the area of wheat quality prediction using protein- and DNA-based markers.
