About Maria-Magdalena Georgescu

Dr. Georgescu is board-certified physician and internationally renowned scientist, best known for her work on PI3K/PTEN signaling and cancer pathogenesis. She obtained her MD degree from Carol Davila Medical School, Bucharest/Romania, her MSc degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble/France, and her PhD degree in Microbiology from Pasteur Institute, Paris/France. Dr. Georgescu completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Cancer Biology at the Rockefeller University, New York/USA, in Professor Hanafusa laboratory. She served as Neuro-Oncology tenured faculty and NIH-funded principal investigator at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston/USA, and as Medical Director of Neuropathology at Louisiana State University, Shreveport/USA. Dr. Georgescu is currently Executive Medical Director at NeuroMarkers, Houston/USA, where she defined the first all-inclusive molecular classification of glioblastoma, and develops diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic molecular targets for brain cancer.
