About MARICHE NATIVIDAD
My research explores the biogeochemical functioning of seagrass ecosystems, focusing on the coupling of organic carbon metabolism and carbonate dynamics. I investigate how these processes regulate seawater carbonate chemistry, air–sea CO₂ exchange, and carbon sequestration, to advance blue carbon science and inform evidence-based coastal restoration and climate mitigation strategies.
I have experience in field-based ecosystem metabolism measurements, carbonate chemistry, and carbon cycling across tropical and subtropical seagrass meadows, integrating ecological and biogeochemical approaches to understand the function of coastal ecosystems better.
