About Panayotis G. Michaelides
Prof. Dr. Panayotis G. MICHAELIDES, is a Full Professor at the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and f. Research Associate at the London School of Economics (LSE). He is recognised among the top 0.5% of Economists in the world (ScholarGPS, 2025), and his research is among the most downloaded worldwide (IDEAS-RePEc, 2025). A prolific academic, he has authored 250 papers, including more than 100 in refereed Journals (Researchgate, 2025). His research interests lie at the intersection of Economics, Finance and Data Science, with Political Economy. He has twice been selected to act as a referee for works by Nobel Prize laureates. Recently, he even authored a history of his discipline titled "History of Economic Ideas" (with Palgrave Macmilan) which has already attracted thousands of downloads. His work, funded by the EU, international corporations, and the banking sector, has seen him in roles such as Expert Consultant, Scientific Director, Principal Investigator or Senior Researcher. Holding advanced degrees in Mathematics, Economics and Business Administration, his journey began with a solid 5-year Diploma Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NTUA, with very strong foundations in Mathematics, Physics, Economics & Computer Science.
