About Paul Wallace

I am a volcanologist and experimental petrologist investigating how magmas ascend, evolve, and ultimately erupt. My research focuses on the dynamic processes operating within volcanic conduits, linking crystal- and bubble-scale textures to the physical behaviour of magma and the development of eruptive activity at the scale of entire volcanic systems. By integrating high-temperature laboratory experiments, microanalytical techniques, and field observations, I aim to uncover how mechanical and chemical processes interact to control eruption style.
