About Peter Marius Veth
I specialise in the archaeology of the arid zone and coasts of Australia. I have held teaching, research and management positions at James Cook University, the Australian National University, AIATSIS and the University of Western Australia. Australian Research Council projects with colleagues have included the archaeology of Aru Islands, East Timor, Barrow Island and the Sandy Deserts. I have held a Disovery Outstanding Researcher Award and currently am an ARC Laureate Fellow leading a team working with 10 Aboriginal corporations from Cape Range, the Pilbara and Western Desert. I am a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities and a Chief Investigator and Theme Leader of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures.
