About Pranitha Pandit
Pranitha is a Senior Editor with the BMC Series based in Pune, India. She joined Springer Nature in 2024 following a research career in environmental microbiology and microbial taxonomy. She earned her PhD in Biotechnology studying the diversity of methanotrophs, with a particular focus on rice ecosystems in India. Her research led to the discovery and description of the novel methanotrophic genus Methylocucumis oryzae and several previously novel species. Pranitha also holds an M.Phil. in Biochemistry and MSc and BSc degrees in Microbiology from Savitribai Phule Pune University. She enjoys working with researchers across disciplines and is committed to helping authors communicate impactful science to a global audience.
