About Ryota AKIYAMA

I prepare thin films that exhibit quantum phenomena by MBE method, and evaluate the samples from various aspects, focusing on electrical conduction measurements, structural analysis by electron diffraction, and ARPES and XMCD measurements using synchrotron radiation.

I am also interested in the development of novel thin film materials that exhibit new and interesting or useful properties.

Typical examples of the materials I work with include topological (crystalline) insulators, graphene, SrTiO3 surfaces, surface superstructures, superconducting thin films, and magnetic semiconductors.

In the future, I would like to work on both fundamental and applied aspects with a view to developing quantum devices that will change the world.
