About Seamus O'Reilly
Seamus O'Reilly, MD, PhD, is a consultant medical oncologist at Cork Mercy and South Infirmary Victoria University Hospitals. A graduate of University College Galway, he completed medical oncology training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD where he was subsequently Assistant Professor in Medical Oncology. During fellowship training there he completed a PhD in Clinical Investigation and focused on Cancer Pharmacology in his research. He is clinical lead at Cancer Trials Ireland, a founding trustee and co-Chairperson of Cork ARC Cancer Support House and was National Specialty Director in Medical Oncology at the Royal College of Physicians from 2013-2021. Prof. O'Reilly is an active investigator in cancer trials at Cork University Hospital (CUH) with an emphasis on breast and gynaecologic cancers and is Principal Investigator of a Phase I trial of Lithium as an autophagy enhancer with chemotherapy for gastrointestinal cancers. He is Deputy Editor of the journal BJC Reports.
