About Zhilian Hu

Zhilian joined the BMC series in the Shanghai office in January 2024 as an Associate Editor for BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology and BMC Women's Health. Before this, she was a research scientist at The University of Oxford, where she investigated cardiac regeneration utilizing different fish species including zebrafish. She holds an MSc in Animal genetics, breeding and reproduction from Shanxi Agricultural University and a PhD in Biology from the University of Freiburg, where she mainly investigated the molecular events driving neuronal development and disorders, particularly in the central nervous system. Her background covers multiple fields, including neurobiology, hematology and cardiology. Throughout her scientific career, Zhilian has published several book chapters, patents, and peer-reviewed research articles and has acted as a reviewer for multiple scientific journals.
