Back in July 2024, my colleague Yanhua Chen organized a focus issue on the cryosphere for Nature Water. The focus included a range of reviews and opinion on the importance of ice for water resources and touched upon the challenges of researchers working in remote, icy environment. To celebrate World day for Glaciers 2025, as well as World Water Day 2025 (dedicated to ice) , we wanted to highlight this collection which as purposely been updated with more recent contentÂ
