A Unified Geometric Theory for the Emergence of Time and Gravity
Published in Physics
The nature and origin of time remain among the most profound unresolved questions in modern theoretical physics. In General Relativity, time is modeled as a geometric dimension within spacetime, curving in response to mass-energy, yet lacking any intrinsic generative mechanism. In contrast, Quantum Mechanics treats time as an external, unobservable parameter, devoid of internal structure or ontological grounding. The thermodynamic arrow of time, grounded in entropy increase, offers only a statistical explanation for temporal asymmetry and fails to account for the universe’s low-entropy initial state. Across these frameworks, time is universally treated as a passive background against which physical processes unfold.
Our current understanding of time is pretty limited. We think of time as a 1 Directional arrow. We know that in our universe time flows forward (towards future). The rate of time flow may change locally but the direction of time will never change.
Many questions arise like:
- Why does time flow forwards only?
- Can time flow backwards?
- What makes the time work?
- How does time begin in the first place?
- Why does time exist?
- What might be the underlying mechanism which makes time work?
But there might be Universes where Time flows backwards (towards past) and there also may exist a Universe with dual directional time flow.
In this work, we tried to define time as emergent property of a higher dimensional fundamental particle. The importance of establishing a physical origin for time and its specific behavior extends beyond philosophy—it is central to reconciling cosmology, quantum theory, and gravity. We propose a possible mathematical framework where we view time not as an abstract coordinate, but as a real, emergent field generated by a zero-dimensional geometric entity, the TNawafington. This object contains a multi-axial internal spring system defined in a high-dimensional configuration space. Its torsional dynamics give rise to a vector-valued field—the Chrono-Projective Torsion (CPT)—whose projection into observable spacetime manifests as the flow and directionality of time.
Our framework models time as a consequence of internal geometric evolution rather than a pre-existing backdrop. It predicts conditions under which time may reverse, fragment, localize, or cease entirely, offering a geometric and energetic basis for temporal quantization, continuity, and irreversibility. This approach further provides a coherent link between early-universe cosmology and the emergence of thermodynamic entropy.
A possible construction is presented wherein time arises as the observable projection of internal torsional states, effectively treating time as a field sourced by a fundamental particle—the TNawafington.
