In my article for Agenda Digitale (Network 360), titled Cybersecurity in UE: Strategie e Partnership per un Futuro Resiliente, I examine how the Union is articulating a comprehensive vision for safeguarding its digital domain—one grounded in cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and supranational collaboration.

The paper argues that cybersecurity in Europe is no longer a technical adjunct but a civilisational imperative. As cyber malfeasance proliferates—from ransomware to critical‑infrastructure intrusions—the EU has responded with a suite of cyber resilience frameworks, collective‑security mechanisms, and cyber diplomacy initiatives designed to fortify its digital infrastructures. These efforts reflect a blend of institutional foresight and technological innovation, positioning the Union as a global standard‑setter in digital governance.

Central to this architecture are the partnerships that bind member states, agencies, and private actors into a shared defensive posture. The discourse highlights how supranational collaboration—through instruments such as the NIS2 Directive, the Cybersecurity Act, and joint operational platforms—serves as the backbone of Europe’s strategic resolve. In this context, digital sovereignty emerges not as isolationism but as the capacity to secure Europe’s digital commons through coordinated action and trusted governance.

Ultimately, the article contributes to the literature as both a testament to the EU’s vigilance and a clarion call for collective responsibility. Protecting Europe’s digital future requires not only robust policy but also a shared commitment to resilience, innovation, and guardianship of the digital sphere.
