A major initiative is underway in Beijing, China, to develop a brain science research centre. Their aim is to coalesce the expertise of leading neuroscientists and investigate neurological diseases of the brain. The Chinese Institute for Brain Research was established earlier in 2018, and major investment is contributing to the construction of brain imaging, molecular biology, high powered microscopes and research laboratories through collaboration between Beijing’s top biomedical institutions and universities. The venture is expected to be launched later on this year. To complement this initiative, neuroscience research centres are being planned for Shanghai, with one of the projects proposing to map all the neural connections in the brain.
