What is this collection about?  

Diabetes mellitus is a globally significant health concern that despite improvements in blood glucose management continues to be associated with both chronic and acute complications. These complications affect patient outcomes and quality of life and have a significant impact on health care systems. Advancing our understanding of diabetes-related complications will enable the development of effective management and prevention strategies. With this cross-journal Collection, the editors at Nature CommunicationsCommunications HealthCommunications Medicine and Scientific Reports invite manuscripts encompassing the full spectrum of diabetes complications and welcomes contributions in the areas of public health, epidemiology and clinical and preclinical research to highlight the latest developments in the field.

Nature CommunicationsCommunications Health, and Communications Medicine will consider original Articles, Reviews and Perspectives. Scientific Reports will consider original Articles.

Why is this collection important?  

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-being, by advancing our understanding of the prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment of diabetes-related complications. By bringing together research spanning public health, epidemiology, and clinical and preclinical studies, the Collection aims to promote improved patient outcomes, enhance quality of life, and inform strategies to reduce the global burden of diabetes.
