Collection Overview
Scientific Data has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Trophic webs.
Trophic webs, describing connections between organisms and predator/prey relationships, are vital for understanding ecosystem structure, diversity, and change. Such systems require extensive input data from sources such as literature extraction, direct observation, and sampling to allow relationships to be deduced.
This will be a Collection of data descriptors and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Data more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 11th May 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
"Trophic relationships shape the dynamics of renewable resources. It is fascinating how pre-predator relations are resulting in so much effects on the multiple populations that are in the ecosystems. Understanding these dynamics is useful to society in direct and indirect ways as goods and services."
- Dr. Simone Libralato, Guest Editor
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
Who is involved?
Guest Editors:
- Simone Libralato, National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics, Italy
- Giorgio Mancinelli, University of Salento, Italy
Internal Team:
- In-House Editor: Guy Jones, Scientific Data, UK
- Commissioning Editor: Nancy Rogerson, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
- Managing Editor: Sarah Jane Hunt, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
