BMC Psychology is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that welcomes articles on a broad range of topics related to psychology, human behavior, and the mind. The scope is not limited to but includes developmental, clinical, cognitive, experimental, and theoretical psychology, as well as health and social psychology, psychology and its relationship to law, policy, personality and individual differences.

We encourage submissions using a variety of research methods, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches, as well as basic and translational research, and welcome submissions on a wide range of interdisciplinary topics. What are the roles and responsibilities of Editorial Board Members?
The Editorial Board Member is primarily responsible for assessing manuscripts for their suitability for peer review, selecting suitable reviewers who meet the journal’s requirements, and recommending decisions on the basis of the peer reviewers’ reports and their own assessment while adhering to the journal’s editorial policies.
An Editorial Board Member for BMC Psychology should be engaged and willing to handle a minimum of twelve (12) manuscripts per year across a range of disciplines within their broader subject area. Our Editorial Board Members will receive training, and our in-house editorial team will also provide administrative support. The Editorial Board Member will report to the Editor of the journal.
Who can apply to join?
We are interested in individuals who are committed to open access, data sharing, and innovation in scientific publishing. Suitable candidates should:
- have a minimum of fifteen (15) research papers published in reputable, English language, peer-reviewed journals;
- be frequently listed as corresponding author (first or last author) during the last five years;
- have demonstrable expertise that fits within the scope and the need of the journal.
- hold a PhD or equivalent qualification

As a Board Member your profile in the field will be raised through your work on the journal and interactions with authors, reviewers and fellow board members. You will receive access to a dedicated editorial site, where you can find all the information needed to help you in your role, as well as learn about the workings of the journal and keep up to date with new developments as they happen. You will have the opportunity to join Editorial Board meetings, webinars, meet fellow Editors and increase your network.
We also encourage you to submit your own manuscripts to the BMC Series journals, for which you would receive a 20% discount on our Article Processing Charges.
