Our paper introduces a novel criterion for assessing the glass-forming ability (GFA) of metallic glasses, termed the vitrification driving force (VDF^(MGs)). This criterion is derived from the crystallization driving force (CDF) and is calculated within the temperature range ΔT_l–g = (T_l – T_g), where crystallization and vitrification compete. Our study demonstrates that VDF^(MGs) correlates strongly with established GFA indicators such as cooling rate R_c, T_rg, γ, γ_m, and k. This suggests that VDF^(MGs) is a reliable measure for quantifying the GFA of metallic glasses. Read the full paper here.
