About Ali Al-Edhari

Astronomer and science communicator with a PhD and postdoctoral training in astrophysics from Université Grenoble Alpes, France. I am currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, College of Science, University of Al-Muthanna, Iraq.

My research interests span astronomy, astrochemistry, science communication, and astronomy education. My work has been published in Nature Astronomy, among other peer-reviewed journals, and I have contributed to a number of international scientific collaborations.

I founded and chaired the first IAU National Astronomy Education Coordinator Team in Iraq, and served as Iraq's first National Outreach Coordinator within the International Astronomical Union (IAU). I am also the founder of Simplifying Astronomy, one of the first Arabic-language initiatives dedicated to communicating astronomy through scientific infographics and accessible visual storytelling.

My work additionally includes translating specialised astronomy books into Arabic to support public engagement with space science across the Arab world.
