Following my graduation in Biological Sciences at the University of Trieste, I spent my postgraduate training in Clinical Pathology. From 1994 to 1997 I specialized in Microbiology and Virology at Udine Medical School. From 1996 to 1997 I worked as research fellow at the German Cancer Center in Heidelberg (Germany). From 1998 to 2006 I joined the R&D department at Dideco-Sorin Group as Senior Research Scientist focusing on the development of medical device and media for stem cell selection and ex-vivo expansion. Thereafter I joined Cardiocentro Ticino, Switzerland where I was appointed Qualified Person of the GMP facility. Under my direction, the facility was accredited by Swissmedic, first in Switzerland, for the production of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products. In 2010, I joint the Advanced Cellular Therapy Laboratory (LTCA) of the Vicenza Hospital as Qualified Person. LTCA is part of the Department of Hematology. Our laboratory is also focused in the development of innovative therapies against solid tumours by using elecromagnetic fields. I have been member of the European Leadership Committee of the International Society of Cellular Therapy (ISCT) and I have been nominated ISCT representative in the Joint Accreditation Committee-ISCT & EBMT (JACIE) board (2014-2017).
