About Mary E James
I am an Executive Acquisitions Editor at Springer Nature in NYC, where I acquire and publish books (and formerly journals) in communications engineering, signal processing, and optical networking. In previous positions, I was an Acquisitions Editor at John Wiley & Sons Publishers in NYC, where I acquired and developed computer programming, design, and emerging technology books; and an Associate Acquisitions Editor at Morgan Kaufmann/Elsevier in San Francisco and Boston where I acquired books on user experience design and artificial intelligence.
I am a co-chair for Springer Nature Women (SN Women). I am also on steering committees for Springer Nature's efforts towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. I mentor for the STEM Mentoring Programme for early career publishers and volunteers for New York Cares. I live in Brooklyn with I husband and cat and enjoy writing, reading, and photography.
