About Md Tahmid Rashid
I am an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Information Technology at Illinois State University. My research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cyber-physical-social systems, trustworthy AI, misinformation, UAV and IoT sensing, edge intelligence, and human-centered AI governance. I am especially interested in how intelligent systems move from prediction and recommendation toward action, and how we can design them to remain accountable, transparent, and useful to society.
My work often focuses on high-stakes environments such as disaster response, situational awareness, smart sensing, infodemics, workforce readiness, and AI-enabled education. I actively collaborate across AI, data science, distributed systems, cybersecurity, and socio-technical computing. Before joining academia in the United States, I worked as a System Design Engineer and taught Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Bangladesh. These experiences continue to shape my interest in building AI systems that are technically strong, socially grounded, and responsible in practice.
