About Sergi Valverde

Dr. Sergi Valverde is a complex systems scientist and head of the Evolution of Networks Lab (NetLab) at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (CSIC). Born in Barcelona, studied computer science and physics, working for a while as professional game developer (1997-2002). He was a visiting professor at the Degree of Biomedical Engineering of the University Pompeu Fabra (2009-2020), teaching "Complexity Science" and "Evolutionary Algorithms". His research deals with complex networks, cultural and technological evolution, evolution of intelligence, and computational models of evolutionary and ecological processes. Sergi is currently working in an evolutionary theory of innovation.
