Call for Deputy Editor: Intensive Care Medicine-Paediatric and Neonatal

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in advancing the field and supporting a global community of researchers. In addition you will contribute to lead and shape a new journal representing a leading society in the field of paediatric and neonatal critical care.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in paediatric and neonatal critical care disciplines and a degree of editorial experience such as involvement in peer review, editorial boards or journal management. Expertise in Nursing and/or in allied health disciplines, such as psychology and other mental health professions, physiotherapy (physical therapy), and rehabilitation sciences will also be taken into account.
The ICMpn journal
Intensive Care Medicine - Paediatric and Neonatal (ICMpn) builds on the strengths, reputation, and community of Critical Care while providing a dedicated platform for high-quality research in paediatric and neonatal critical care, helping authors identify the best home for their work. It was launched in 2023 as the official journal of the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC) and is uniquely positioned between neonatology and pediatric organ specific journals covering the whole life span of children from birth till adolescence/adulthood.
It is an open access online peer-reviewed journal aiming to advance both medical and nursing research by promoting high level of evidence guiding future therapies for critically ill children of all age groups. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and global knowledge exchange, the journal aims to improve outcomes for critically ill paediatric and neonatal patients and support equitable, resilient healthcare systems worldwide.
ICMpn is intended for all critical care providers (attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and physiotherapists, and other allied specialists) seeking to enhance their own knowledge to ensure they provide Intensive Care Medicine - Paediatric and Neonatal best care for critically ill neonates, children and adolescents.

The Deputy Editor role
In this role, you will support the Editor-in-Chief in the day-to-day management of the Journal, with a particular focus on nursing and allied health disciplines.
The Deputy Editor is responsible for overseeing the peer-review process for manuscripts within the nursing and allied health areas, ensuring a rigorous, fair, and timely evaluation process.
Drawing on their extensive expertise and experience, the Deputy Editor will provide subject-specific guidance, contribute strategic insights to support the Journal’s future development, and recommend initiatives to enhance its quality, visibility, and impact.
As a key ambassador for the Journal, the Deputy Editor will actively promote submissions that align with the Journal’s aims, scope, and values. The role also includes proposing and developing topical article collections, serving as Guest Editor when appropriate, and supporting initiatives that strengthen the Journal’s profile within the scholarly community.
