Call for papers: Carbohydrate synthesis and engineering
Published in Chemistry
What is this collection about?
Carbohydrates and glycans are structurally diverse biomolecules that mediate processes ranging from molecular recognition and signalling to immunity and host–microbe interactions. Their inherent stereochemical complexity and the difficulty in controlling glycosidic bond formation continue to present significant challenges for chemical synthesis.
This Collection focuses on advances in carbohydrate synthesis and engineering, including:
- Catalytic, synthetic, and chemoenzymatic approaches for the preparation of complex and highly functionalized carbohydrates, glycans, and glycoconjugates.
- Design, synthesis, and application of synthetic carbohydrate tools
Why is this collection important?
By highlighting advances in catalytic, synthetic, and chemoenzymatic methods, this Collection aims to showcase new strategies for overcoming long-standing challenges in carbohydrate synthesis and for developing increasingly sophisticated carbohydrate-based tools and systems.
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by In-House Editors who are experts in their fields and supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
Who is involved?
Communications Chemistry is edited by both in-house professional editors and Editorial Board Members.
