New collection launch in Global LGBTQ+ Health! 

Chemsex is most often approached as a public health problem to be measured and controlled. This risks narrowing how people who engage in chemsex are assessed and understood, positioning them primarily through the lens of risk rather than in relation to the broader social, relational, and embodied dimensions of their experiences. Research is especially limited for trans and non-binary people, women, bisexual+ people, sex workers, and communities in underrepresented regions.

The collection, Global Perspectives on Chemsex in the Context of LGBTQ+ Health, seeks submissions that move beyond a solely clinical lens to explore the diverse realities of chemsex, including its intersections with intimacy, pleasure, autonomy, community, care, stigma, criminalisation, and health. The editors welcome research from underrepresented and resource-limited settings, community-led responses, intersectional and syndemic approaches, methodological innovation, and critical analyses of chemsex as a concept and practice.

The submission deadline is 29 April 2027.

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to  SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities.

The Collection is edited by the Associate Editor Dr Allegra Ferrari (University of Antwerp, Belgium) and Deputy Editor Dr Rayner Kay Jin Tan, National University of Singapore, Singapore.
