Call for papers: Landslide monitoring and risk modelling Collection
Published in Earth & Environment
Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Landslide monitoring and risk modelling.
Landslide monitoring and risk modelling integrate geotechnical, hydrological, and remote sensing data to assess slope stability and forecast potential disasters. The combination of various types of sensors enables early detection of ground motion, while geospatial models quantify susceptibility and hazard. These approaches support early warning systems and inform land-use planning in vulnerable regions.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 29th April 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
"Landslide monitoring and risk assessment are vital for protecting communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems in an era of increasing climate variability and land-use change which are increasing the impact of such natural hazards. This topic is highly relevant because advances in remote sensing, AI, and geotechnical modeling are transforming how we detect, predict, and mitigate landslide hazards. I’m excited about this collection because it brings together cutting-edge research and practical solutions that can directly reduce disaster risks. Its impact could be significant—advancing early warning systems, informing policy, and improving resilience. Researchers should submit to this collection to contribute to a collaborative, interdisciplinary effort driving safer and more sustainable landscapes."
- Dr. Pierluigi Confuorto, Guest Editor
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
