Call for papers: Micromobility and its role in wellbeing and climate action
Published in Earth & Environment and Civil Engineering
Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Micromobility and its role in wellbeing and climate action.
With increasing public awareness in terms of health and environment, micromobility solutions, such as e-scooters and bikes, are expected to transform urban transportation by promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing carbon emissions.
This will be a Collection of original research papers that investigates the integration of micromobility into urban planning, its environmental benefits, and the social dynamics it influences and how it may affect the wellbeing of the riders and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 26th August 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
“Micromobility's relevance is undeniable as it sits at the critical intersection of two defining challenges of our time: the climate crisis and the pursuit of urban wellbeing. This Collection moves beyond purely technological or infrastructural discussions to explore the profound human impact of micromobility modes of transport. We anticipate the impact will be a foundational, interdisciplinary resource that provides the evidence needed to foster healthier, more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable communities. A researcher may submit to this collection to be part of a vital, forward-looking conversation, offering their work a platform to directly influence to the creation of cities that prioritize both planetary needs and human health and wellbeing.” - Prof. Denia (Dionysia) Kolokotsa
Why submit to a Collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
