What is this collection about?

Epigenetics and epigenomics have transformed our understanding of how plants interpret, store and transmit information beyond DNA sequence alone. Advances including high-resolution epigenome profiling, single-cell and spatial epigenomics are revealing the regulatory layers that shape development and environmental responses. In this cross-journal Collection, Nature Communications, Communications Biology and Scientific Reports welcome studies on plant epigenetic mechanisms, as well as technologies such as epigenomic mapping, single-cell epigenomics and multi-omics approaches. Nature Communications and Communications Biology will consider original Articles, Reviews and Perspectives, while Scientific Reports will consider original Articles.

Why is this collection important?

Plant epigenetics is providing new insights into how plants grow, respond to stress and adapt to changing environments. Emerging technologies are enabling increasingly detailed views of epigenetic regulation across tissues, cells and developmental stages. By bringing together methodological advances and biological discoveries, this Collection will help showcase progress in understanding the dynamic regulatory mechanisms that influence plant function and adaptation.
