As Catal celebrates its first anniversary, we take this opportunity to reflect on a year marked by growth, engagement, and scientific discovery. In just one year, the journal has begun to establish itself as a global platform for high-quality catalysis research, bringing together contributions that span the full breadth of the field, from fundamental catalytic science to technologies addressing energy, environmental, and industrial challenges.

The infographic summarizes the progress achieved during our inaugural year. By mid-2026, Catal had published 29 articles, demonstrating strong interest from the international research community. The journal has attracted contributions from researchers across more than 9 countries and continues to expand its global reach through open-access publishing.

The diversity of topics published reflects both the breadth of catalysis and the multidisciplinary nature of the challenges it helps address. Contributions have covered electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, thermocatalysis, industrial catalysis, environmental catalysis, biocatalysis, and nanocatalysis, while highlighted research themes include carbon dioxide conversion, hydrogen production, sustainable catalytic processes, advanced materials, and pollution control. Together, these studies showcase the vital role of catalysis in enabling a more sustainable future.

Equally important has been the development of a vibrant and international community of authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and readers. Their expertise, dedication, and enthusiasm have helped shape the journal during its formative year and establish the rigorous standards that will guide its future growth.

While the numbers highlighted here provide a snapshot of our first year, they represent something much more significant: a collective commitment to advancing catalysis research and accelerating scientific innovation. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to Catal's success and look forward to working with our community as the journal enters its next chapter.

The achievements of this inaugural year are only the beginning. With continued support from researchers around the world, Catal will remain dedicated to publishing impactful science, fostering collaboration, and advancing catalytic solutions for the benefit of society.
