Making research more visual and accessible: JPDP’s new video summarieries
Published in Microbiology, Plant Science, and Agricultural & Food Science
The Journal of Plant Diseases and Protection (JPDP) is excited to introduce a new feature: AI-generated, author-approved video summaries for selected articles. This initiative is part of our commitment to making scientific research more accessible, engaging, and easier to share.
These short videos transform complex research into clear, visual narratives designed for a wide audience, including scientists, students, policymakers, and anyone interested in plant science. Each video is created using content from the article and reviewed by the authors to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Why Video Summaries?
As research becomes more specialized, effective communication is more important than ever. With video summaries, JPDP aims to:
- Make research understandable for non-specialists
- Increase visibility across platforms like LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram
- Support Open Science by making content easier to share and discuss
Featured Summaries
We’ve launched two video summaries as part of our pilot phase:
Can biocontrol be the game-changer in integrated pest management? A review of definitions, methods and strategies

These videos are available on the JPDP website and can be shared across social media and other platforms to help promote the journal’s content and expand its reach.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. JPDP plans to offer more video summaries and invites authors to participate in this initiative. We’re currently monitoring the impact and look forward to sharing more updates soon.
A big thank you to the authors of the featured articles for their collaboration, and to everyone involved in bringing this project to life.
JPDP is proud to be advancing innovation in plant science publishing, one video at a time.
