I hold a degree in Psychology from the National University of Colombia, a Master's in Neuropsychology from the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires, and a PhD in Psychology from the Argentinean Catholic University. I conducted my postdoctoral studies at the Laboratory of Experimental Psychology & Neurosciences (INECO, Argentina) and the Institute of Cognitive and Translational Neuroscience (INCYT, Argentina). I received training in functional and structural neuroimaging at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (Leipzig, Germany).
I have experience in neuropsychological assessment and cognitive stimulation for patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders. I have authored over 90 publications, including books, chapters, and articles in leading journals such as Nature Human Behavior, Brain, JAMA Neurology, Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, and the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, among others. I am a Section Editor of Plos Mental Health and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease and Frontiers in Psychiatry, and serve as an ad hoc reviewer for more than 20 international journals. Additionally, I am part of the Project Team Taskforce of the Human Affectome Project. In 2019, I was honored with the L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science. My research investigates social cognition and brain health in neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric conditions as well as in non-clinical vulnerable populations, aiming to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of these disorders, understand the neurobiological basis of social behaviors, and enhance the quality of life of patients and caregivers.
