Singapore’s low fertility rate cannot be rectified by new assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in vitro gametogenesis (IVG) and stem cell-based embryo models (SCBEMs)
Given that such new assisted reproductive technologies would be needed only by a tiny fraction of local patients facing extremely difficult infertility problems, these will not significantly improve Singapore’s ultra-low fertility rate. R&D for reproductive aims could be a waste of public resources.
