About James Brown

My research is on applying evolutionary, ecological and quantitative genetics to improve disease control in crops and trees. I currently work on durable resistance to fungal diseases in wheat, especially Septoria tritici blotch, and fungicide insensitivity in cereal powdery mildew. I'm also applying lessons from arable crop breeding to developing methods of selecting resistance to ash dieback and Dutch elm disease.
