About Kazuyoshi Z. Nanjo
I graduated from the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Tohoku University, Japan, with a PhD. Since then, I have worked in academia and industry in Japan, the US and Switzerland. My work surrounds the probabilities of occurrence and precursory warnings for a range of natural hazards, with an emphasis on earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis. Over the last decade, a major discovery has been the application of the concepts of big data to these problems. The holy grail is to have reasonably accurate earthquake forecasts.
