Read our full study in Open Veterinary JournalRafael Castro-Fuentes is a researcher at the University of La Laguna whose work focuses on comparative neuropathology and age-related neurodegeneration. Currently, his research integrates neurobiology and several risk factors to investigate canine cognitive dysfunction as a natural model of Alzheimer’s disease. He is particularly interested in how domestication and shared human–animal environments shape vulnerability to brain aging within a One Health framework.
