Increasing Global Threat of Outburst Floods from Overlooked Small Alpine Lakes
Small alpine lakes are rapidly forming in deglaciating mountain regions yet remain largely excluded from hazard assessments. This Perspective highlights their growing outburst flood risk and calls for risk-informed monitoring and governance to protect vulnerable mountain communities.
