About Susana Castaños-Cervantes
Grounded in sustained work with vulnerable populations, my research is driven by a commitment to advancing mental health and holistic well-being through approaches that cultivate agency, dignity, and collective responsibility. By developing and implementing psychosocial, community, and group-based interventions, my work emphasizes the provision of tools and resources that empower individuals and communities to actively shape their own growth while contributing to the flourishing of their social environments. This research is informed by a psychopedagogical framework rooted in the four pillars of education and Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy, integrating a human rights approach, a gender perspective, and a strengths-based orientation. Together, these foundations position learning as a transformative and emancipatory process, fostering critical consciousness, shared accountability, and sustainable well-being. Ultimately, my work seeks to inspire individuals, groups, and communities to recognize their inherent capacities, assume responsibility for their development, and collaboratively advance toward a higher and more equitable collective well-being.
