About Vajira Thambawita
Vajira Thambawita completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Artificial Intelligence at Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) and SimulaMet between 2018 and 2021. His thesis, titled “DeepSynthBody: the beginning of the end for data deficiency in medicine,” introduces a novel framework aimed at addressing the scarcity of medical data by generating synthetic datasets using deep generative adversarial networks. This work contributes to overcoming challenges related to privacy concerns and the costly, time-consuming data annotation processes in the medical domain. In recognition of his contributions, Thambawita received the IEEE TCCLS PhD Thesis Award in 2021. Vajira Thambawita is a Senior Research Scientist in the Holistic Systems department at Simula Metropolitan, focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in medical data analysis.
