About Zhimiao Yan

Dr. Zhimiao Yan is an associate professor in the Department of Engineering Mechanics at the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He earned a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Tech in 2014. He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2018 and currently serves as the Associate Head of the Department of Engineering Mechanics. He established the "Meta-mechanics Lab," which focuses on the research of smart materials and meta-structures, developing intelligent bio-physical systems capable of perception, computation, response, and interaction.
