Human life is shaped by sensitivity—to the spaces we inhabit and to the relationships we build with ourselves and others. In recent years, some areas of research have prioritised highly quantitative approaches, leaving less room to capture the emotional subtleties of experience. This Collection encourages studies from social psychology, ethnography and media research that explore how emotions structure everyday life. Emotions are not external to human experience; they are integral to it, revealing aspects of social life that might otherwise remain unseen. Understanding these dynamics can offer valuable insights for scholarship and public debate.

I am the author of A Cultural History of Laughter (Guerra & Paz, 2022; Routledge, 2024), where I highlight the important role of media in the democratisation of laughter, and The Future of Television (Routledge, 2024), which, among other aspects, proposes a new model of Public Service adapted to emerging digital platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
