Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Targeted diagnostics
Targeted diagnostics enable precise detection of disease, early intervention and personalized treatments. Advances in non-invasive testing, nanotechnology, and omics approach have proven effective in diagnosing various conditions. Further research is needed to achieve specificity, integrate emerging methods, and expand accessibility.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 7th February 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
“Targeted diagnostics represent a pivotal shift toward precision medicine, enabling timely, accurate, and individualized disease detection. This collection is exciting because it brings together cutting-edge tools—from molecular biomarkers to AI-powered platforms—that are transforming clinical decision-making across diverse conditions. I believe its impact will be far-reaching, fostering innovation and improving global healthcare outcomes. Researchers should consider submitting to this collection for its broad visibility, interdisciplinary reach, and potential to shape the future of diagnostics through high-quality, impactful science published under a trusted open-access platform.” - Swarup A. V. Shah
“Targeted diagnostics Collection represents a transformative shift in healthcare, enabling precise, early detection of diseases based on molecular, genetic, or cellular markers. This topic is highly relevant as it supports personalized medicine, reduces misdiagnosis, and improves patient outcomes. I’m excited about this collection because it fosters interdisciplinary innovation, bridging bioengineering, AI, and molecular biology. The potential impact is immense, from accelerating point-of-care technologies to guiding targeted therapies. Researchers should submit to this collection to contribute to a growing body of work that directly influences real-world clinical decisions and drives the future of precision diagnostics.” - Surya Prakash Dwivedi
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
