Within such context, the Italian Scientific Community shines both for its numerousness and for the significant contributions to USA growth and progress, as clearly shown by the approximately 2,500 among students, investigators and professors populating Harvard, the most prestigious University in USA and one of the most emblazoned ones across the Planet, at the same time. And just against the Harvard Academic Community are being addressed the poisonous and sharp arrows hurled by the Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem.
In more general terms, we are facing an alarming and incomprehensible ostracism towards Science, that is paradoxically affecting USA, the same Nation which has attracted since decades multitudes of Scientists who consider it a real "Eden of Science"!
Similar feelings and thoughts are also shared by myself when recalling the unforgettable experience lived between 1987 and 1988, as a "Visiting Professor" and as a "Fulbright Scholar", at the Veterinary Medical College of the Iowa State University (Ames, IA) the most ancient Veterinary Medical School in USA.
To these senseless dynamics do also appear to belong the openly "no vax" position held by the US Health Minister, Robert Kennedy Jr., thus making "a perfect pair" both with the unbelievable USA exit from the World Health Organization (WHO) and with the clear-cut intolerance towards Science, evidence-based Science and evidence-based Medicine repeatedly expressed by Donald Trump throughout the dramatic COVID-19 pandemic.
Noteworthy, an official petition depicting such an alarming and unprecedented situation has been recently published, after having been signed by the Members of the USA National Academy of Sciences [1,2].
As a concluding remark, Historia magistra vvitae and, no less important, Errare humanum est perseverare autem diabolicum!
