We are excited to launch Nature Progress Oncology, a new open access journal in the Nature Progress series. The journal is now open for submissions, providing a home for research which represents important insights into the fast-moving field of cancer research.

We aim to publish work that progresses our knowledge of cancer, including fundamental, preclinical and clinical research.  These include studies focused on understanding cancer development and metastasis, cancer cell biology and model development, and tumour characterisation through state of the art –omics approaches. We also welcome clinical research, including clinical trials (Phases I-III), post-hoc analyses and biomarker studies. Through reviews, viewpoints and commentary pieces, we will provide an opportunity for researchers and organisations to platform opinions and thought leadership within the oncology community.

At Nature Progress Oncology, we seek to provide visibility to important research across the field of cancer research. We particularly welcome contributions which seek to advance our understanding of rare cancers, or present research from historically under-represented populations. We believe that by creating visibility for these areas, we can embolden research and contribute to the understanding and treatment of all cancer types.

Within the Nature Progress journals, we aim to foster collaboration between our in-house editors and editorial board members to represent the cutting edge of cancer research. Our editorial board members will provide guidance on the most exciting areas of cancer research and help to assist in the initial assessment and review of primary research, whilst our in house team will implement the standards and guidelines associated with Nature Research. We are currently welcoming applications to join our editorial board.  We also work closely with our expert colleagues at Nature Communications, and the entire Nature Portfolio. We will curate a selection of cross-journal collections to highlight emerging themes within the field and enable high visibility for research within them.

At Nature Progress Oncology, we uphold the high standards of research practice which are so closely associated with the Nature Portfolio. We require authors and editorial board members to adhere to robust ethical principles, commitment to public deposition of data and code, and internationally recognised reporting guidelines. Further information on these policies can be found in our submission guidelines.

Submit with us today and together we can progress the world of cancer research.
